The Adjutant General's Corps (AGC) provides support in the form of Combat Human Resources Specialists, Military Police, Military Provost Staff, Military Provost Guard Service, Educational and Training Services and Army Legal Services.

The Adjutant General's Corps was formed from the Royal Army Pay Corps, the Corps of Royal Military Police, the Military Provost Staff Corps, the Royal Army Educational Corps, the Army Legal Corps and the Staff Clerks from the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.

Types of role in the AGC

PROVOST: Royal Military Police, Military Provost Staff and Military Provost Guard Service

  • The Royal Military Police (RMP) are the Army's specialists in investigations and policing and are responsible for policing the military community.

  • The Military Provost Staff are the Army's specialists in custody and detention, providing advice inspection and surety.

  • The Military Provost Guard Service (MPGS) provides trained professional soldiers to meet Defence armed security requirements.

STAFF & PERSONNEL SUPPORT: Staff and Personnel Support (SPS) personnel are soldiers first and serve alongside and administer every unit in the British Army, Regular and Reserve.

SPS personnel are responsible for the provision of Personnel Administration and Management Information, Financial Management (including pay, allowances, recovery of charges, accounting and audit) and Administrative Staff Support to the British Army, during peacetime and on operations. People are the Army’s most important resource and we look after all of them.

EDUCATIONAL & TRAINING SERVICES: Educational and Training Services (ETS) officers provide learning and development opportunities for serving personnel wherever they are around the world.

Education is vital to ensure that officers and soldiers are intellectually able to meet the roles of a modern technological Army. ETS provides that education to Regular and Reserve Army personnel, helping them to meet the challenges of the 21st century by training for certainty and educating for uncertainty.
