Adventure training is one of the most popular experiences in the British Army – and it's easy to see why. The training takes you into the great outdoors, all around the world. What you can do on adventure training
Never thought you'd dive from a plane, or swim to the depths of the ocean? As a soldier in the British Army, adventure training is all about taking on new challenges and finding new ways to work together.
Skiing
Ski training in the British Army takes soldiers from complete beginner to absolute confidence on the slopes. Courses are open to both regulars and reserves and help build balance, focus, and resilience. Choose from alpine, telemark, and more.
Mountaineering and Climbing
From Brecon Beacons in Wales to the Canadian Rockies, soldiers in the British Army enjoy world-class mountaineering and rock climbing. Test your endurance and sharpen your decision-making skills across this demanding terrain.
Scuba Diving
Open to qualifying regulars and reserves, Army diving courses take you from your first breath underwater to fully qualified diver. Train in some of the world's clearest waters to build precision and trust in your training, while staying calm under pressure.
Kayaking and Canoeing
Whether it's the white waters of Belize or the open waters of the Lake District, kayaking courses in the Army train you up flat-water basics to serious rapids. It sharpens reflexes and problem-solving fast – because there's no faking it when the water's moving beneath you.
Caving
Ready to go underground? Caving expeditions will take you through some of the UK's most challenging cave systems. Open to all ranks in the British Army, you'll put your nerve, navigation and teamwork to the test – in total darkness – and build a specific kind of courage unlike anything else.
Gliding, Paragliding, and Sky Diving
The view's a little different when you're up in the air. From sky diving to paragliding, these sky-high adventure training experiences are unlike any other. Build on your skills in navigation, while testing your precision and nerve as you touch the sky.
