So, why not hear what some of our serving soldiers have to say as they answer the big question: What’s the best job in the Army? Spoiler alert: there’s no single answer. But that’s the point.

It’s Personal: “My job is the best job in the Army” 

The simple truth: the best job in the Army depends on who you ask.

One soldier laughs, “My job is the best job in the Army.” Another replies, “Yeah, so is mine!” That’s because every role offers something different—and what makes a job great is how well it fits you.

Whether you’re into engineering, logistics, medicine, or law, there’s a place for you. And more importantly, there’s a role that can make you feel proud, challenged, and fulfilled.

Pride in Your Role 

For some, it’s about finding a job that matches their personality and values.

“For me, it’s the RMP,” says one soldier, referring to the Royal Military Police. “It fits me. That doesn’t mean it fits everybody.”

That’s a key message: the Army isn’t one-size-fits-all. There are over 100 roles to choose from, and each one plays a vital part in keeping the Army running smoothly.

From tank crew to communications engineers, every job matters. And when you find the one that suits you, it can feel like you’ve found your purpose.

Finding the Right Fit 

Another soldier shares, “For my trade, as a Combat Medical Technician, that’s probably the best job in the Army.” 

Others talk about their time in the Adjutant General’s Corps (AGC), or as Movement Controllers in the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC). These roles might sound different on paper, but they all have one thing in common: they made the person feel like they belonged. 

That’s what makes a job “the best.” It’s not just about what you do—it’s about how it makes you feel.

Career Journeys and Highlights 

The Army isn’t just about the job you start with. It’s about where that job can take you.

“I did a few trips away,” one soldier recalls. “Cyprus, Dubai, Kenya.”

Travel, adventure, and new experiences are part of Army life. But so is growth. Many soldiers start in one role and when they progress up the ranks the roles change as they gain skills and confidence.

Whether you join at 16 or later in life, there’s room to build a career that evolves with you.

What Really Matters 

At the heart of it all is connection.

“Wherever you end up,” one soldier says, “you generally find that you create a bond with the people around you. You become quite proud of what you do.”

That sense of pride and belonging is what makes Army life special. It’s not just about the job—it’s about the team, the mission, and the impact you make.
